Images will appear below the instructions for the configuration.

Welcome to the ConcordNet set-up instructions. If you are configuring Dreamweaver for FTP for the first time, or if you just need a quick reminder on how to do it, this page is for you.

Below you will find a series of screenshots followed by a brief description of what to input on these screens. If you've ever followed a recipe out of a cookbook you should find this fairly simple. If you have any further questions or if anything seems confusing after you have read this please feel free to contact us. Please note, screenshots are from Dreamweaver version 4. If you are using a previous version some of the terms may be slightly different but the location of the fields involved and the settings to input are the same. Now, lets get your FTP set up ...

First, if you have not yet created a folder on your computer to store the website pages on, do so now. Next, launch Dreamweaver ...

This will be the screen you first open to if you've used Dreamweaver before.

Next, click "Site" in the toolbar and from the dropdown menu select "New Site". This will open a new window in which you enter the location of the site folder on your computer and configure the FTP settings for uploading.

In the new window that pops up you will find the heading "Category" on the left hand side. It will be set to "Local Info". If not, change it so that "Local Info" is highlighted. Following is a list of the information you will have to enter into each field in this window"

Site Name: Enter whatever you'll remember the site as. This is not relevant to any FTP setting so it can be anything.

Local Root Folder: Enter the path to the folder you want your site stored to on your hard drive. To browse for it click the folder icon to the right of the field.

HTTP Address: Enter the address of your website. (http://www.yoursite.com)

Cache: Can be enable or not. It's faster when enabled.

You've now got your local setting configured, now on to the FTP settings. Under the "Category" heading select "Remote Info". This will bring you to ...

In this window you will be configuring the remote settings you will need to FTP your site onto our servers. Following is a list of the information you will have to enter into each field in this window:

Access: Nothing else will appear in this window until you set the "Access" field to "FTP". At this time you will see the other fields.
FTP Host: Enter the site you will be FTPing to. This will generally be your website name (i.e. www.yoursite.com). Please note: if the site has only recently been registered or if you are transferring your site from another ISP you will have to use the host www.yoursite.com.dnsxs.com. This will be the case until the DNS setting have migrated (24 to 48 hours)
Host Directory: Here you enter the root folder for your site. If you are hosting on a Linux package you will enter "htdocs" and if you are on an NT package you will enter "www".
Login: The login will generally be the username you chose at signup. To confirm this please check the set-up instructions you were emailed shortly after signing up.
Password: The password will generally be the password you chose at signup. Again, please check the set-up instructions you received shortly after signing up to confirm.
Save: Check this box if you would like Dreamweaver to remember the password you have entered. This will save you from having to enter it each time you want to log on to the remote server. If many people use your computer and you do not wish them to have FTP access to your site you can uncheck this box.
Use Passive FTP: Ensure that this box is checked.
Use Firewall This will depend on whether you have a firewall. Generally this box will be unchecked.
Check In/Out: Unless otherwise desired this field can be left unchecked. It will not affect your ability to FTP to your site.

Next you will click "Done". A cache will be created and you are now set up for FTP using Dreamweaver.

Congratulations !!!
